Our Houseguests

A week ago, the hubby notified me that we had a houseguest--a Mourning Dove. She had made her nest on top of the hose reel and had laid two little bitty eggs. Yesterday, both her little bitty chicks hatched!

Aren't they cute?? In an "Alien" sort of way...

wonder if they will turn out to be huge doves, you know, being born next to the miracle grow :) (lame, yeah, I know LOL)

*snickers* I'm so glad someone else went there and I didn't have to.

haha I didn't even notice the miracle grow... it's too early in the morning for me to be that observant... it is funny though and they are cute in an ugly sort of way!

Awww...

I can't believe that she chose to nest so out in the open!

We have to keep our garage doors closed or else we'd have birds nests in all available crevices. I wish they would just make them in the low branches of some trees. I'd love to see them. Just not in my garage!

How awesome! We used to have a hanging basket on our back balcony and every year a mourning dove would lay her eggs there. It was so cool to watch them hatch and grow. And, every year a bunch of doves would come back and hang out at the back of our apartment.

Ds#1, who took a course in bird biology, had informed me before that doves make the sloppiest nests...so, thanks for giving me actual proof! =)

(p.s. as you can tell, I'm catching up on your blog...I have that BIG ol' button of yours on my blog, and I keep forgetting to click on it. Egads.)
